Achilles International New Zealand (Achilles NZ) provides New Zealanders with disabilities, from all across the country, the opportunity to participate alongside able-bodied athletes in local mainstream events, like Wellington Round the Bays, Taupo Half Marathon, Rotorua and Auckland Marathon (to name just a few), as well as high-profile international events like the New York Marathon.
The Lindsay Foundation were delighted to play a small part on the journey of 15 disabled athletes at the recent Queenstown Marathon. For many this was not only their first trip to Queenstown but their first time on a plane.
“I’m a totally blind runner and this was my 4th Marathon and first attempt at Queenstown after the 2021 event was postponed then canceled. I achieved a PB so was well worth the wait!”
