Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. Today, 12,000 New Zealanders have Parkinson’s, i.e. 1 in 500 in the general population, and 1 in 100 in people over the age of 65. Sadly, there is no cure for Parkinson’s. Moreover, everyone with Parkinson’s experiences a different number and combination of symptoms, making access to timely information and support crucial in the effective management of the condition.
Parkinson’s NZ provide home visits, support groups, seminars, social activities and share the latest news and research to help people understand and self-manage Parkinson's. By offering wrap around care, and support, Parkinson’s Educator’s work alongside health service providers to ensure no one needs to live with Parkinson’s alone.
The Lindsay Foundation is thrilled to support this free service and ensure that Parkinson’s patients have the care and support that they need.
