30 Mar 2022Project Employ’s vision is to create a community where young people with intellectual disabilities or learning differences are engaged in meaningful, paid employment in the same way as any member of society.
Their goal is to establish a training café in the heart of Takapuna. Following closely in the steps of Te Tuhi café in Pakuranga, Project Employ will provide training in an authentic working environment, the team will engage with customers, learn about food preparation & hygiene, point of sale transactions and the all-important transferable skills needed for the workplace, all overseen by a mentor / job coach.
The Lindsay Foundation is delighted to partner with Project Employ at the beginning stages of ‘Flourish’ Training Cafe, a place in the community where young adults, who learn differently, can gain skills and experience to enter the workforce.
